Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

When your doctor is on holiday we try to cover with our own doctors but there are times when we need to employ locum doctor help.

GP Registrars

We are a training practice and hope to have with us, on a yearly basis, a fully trained qualified doctor who is gaining experience in general practice.

Community Midwives

Midwives Debbie Thorne & Gaynor Thorne and provide care for all pregnant mothers in co-operation with GPs and hospital consultants. You can have an appointment with a midwife, without seeing a doctor, and be referred to other health professionals if required. Debbie and Gaynor will see you at home or at South Molton Community Hospital at the weekly clinic, both before and after your baby is born, and will usually attend you during your labour. Regular evening antenatal classes are held in South Molton Community Hospital. Messages can be left for the midwives at reception. Antenatal /postnatal care and pre-conceptual counselling

Community Nurses

Our district nurses are attached to our practice. They carry out a wide range of nursing care and advice to the housebound and patients recently discharged from hospital. They can be contacted on 01769 576352

Health Visitors

Our Public Health Nurses can be contacted on 0333 234 1904. They are involved in the promotion of health and early detection of ill health at all ages, particularly for expectant mothers, the under fives, and the elderly. A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. • Child Health Clinics - drop in clinic, Thursday, 09:30 – 12:00 • Developmental Checks - by Invitation – you will be sent an appointment when your child is due. • Postnatal Support Group/ Under 1 group - please contact your HV for more information.
